1st Day: In The Books
Got hooked up with my membership at Paramount Athletic Club today at lunch then went back this evening to get my first day strength training in. Hit all the machines I wanted to except the chest press. I also got in 40 minutes of Stair Master. I'm already feeling some soreness. Tomorrow will be some spinning in da basement.
Saw a dude at the gym that looks like a skinny younger version of Bon Jovi. Of course his girl friend looked JUST like him. Hmmmm.
This Cross race would have been so freaking fun!
Hope you all had a good Halloween. I missed Trick or Treat. (thankfully) B-Man got dressed up to hand out candy...

When I got home I asked him if he wanted to go Trick or Treating for candy, he just says "Nooooooo" and goes back to playing with his trains. Nice.
Wifey had a great story. She's passing out candy and a mother comes up on the porch smoking a cigarette, pushing a stroller with a baby in it and holding the hand of another kid. Wifey gives the kid a treat and the mother, whilst puffing on cigarette, says- "What about the baby?" So Wifey is forced to give a small baby candy. Jeeezus. People have no freaking shame.
When I pulled up from the gym the neighborhood looked like L.A. after the Rodney King riots. It was nuts. All for free candy. Fire trucks should have busted out the water cannons.
That's all I got. Time for bed. I can't believe it's only 9:25. Eeesh. I'm such an Old-Head.
Later.

HEY -
B-Man looks old enough to start dating in that photo!? Wha'd'ya feedin him, he's growing up fast.
Growing fast! Dude likes his yogurt, grapes, oranges, vegie dogs and french fries. DOH! Now I'm hungry.
How often are your strength training days? I am trying to decide if a gym membership is worth it or to use the bowflex instead
yo man, i wasn't at sat's gloucester cross, but here's a comment from another local racer: "Raced 'cross in the snow saturday... it f'ing sucked." i think that sums it up pretty well.
i rolled to sunday's race to watch the elites rip it up - in 65 degree temps (which had to weird for them after it snowed the day before). i strolled about with a bag full of beers as that's the way cross should be handled - from a distance, with a beer. anyway, this past wknd in gloucester may go-down as the craziest 2-days of weather a cross race has ever seen... man, i love new england.
Arleigh,
I'd going to start out with 3 days a week for about 8 weeks then knock it down to 2 when weather allows me to start building base miles. I'd prefer just to do at home but I like having a leg press and some additional cardio options. Did strength at home last year with "step ups", leg ext., chest press and lat pulls. Good luck,
Jason
