Gettin My Pre-Race Brake(s) On...

Stopped over at Tom's tonight for some bike love. He worked his magic on El Santo's rear derailleur and has has it shifting perfect. He also rebuilt the rear hub with some new bearings and grease. The old bearings were like rusted squares- yikes!

Also got the new brakes pads and springs put in too. El Santo should be good to go Saturday.

I STILL can NOT make up my mind which bike to race. Both are so damn good. El Santo will most likely get the nod because I'm SO used to the Shimano triggers on it, that shifting is like second nature. The Dos Niner has SRAM X.0 grip shifts, which I love, but I'm still getting used to it and feel that it MAY be better suited for a race later in the season with more hours on it. As of right now I only have about 8 hours of saddle time with the SRAM.

Lodi is not real technical, so I'll up the SPV a bit in the rear to firm it up (that sounds perverse) and still have 4" to keep my cheeks happy (also sounds perverse) over the 12 hours.

I have two NiteRider HID batteries ready to blaze, all my Hammer goods are ready to do their magic as well as some top secret, hush, hush, stuff that is is NO WAY a pre race meal made with spinach. I'd love to tell you what it is, but I can't- so don't ask! OK, ok it's pasta with spinach!!! Are you happy now??? SPINACH! The stuff is like EPO, except legal and you can just eat it rather than inject it in your bum (again- perverse).

Working a half day tomorrow, then off to do some shopping, and house stuff to make up for the fact we'll be gone all weekend. Nothing worse than coming back from a trip and having the house look like hell.

May post again tomorrow or Sat. a.m. if time allows. Good luck to Buddy, Marc, J.B., and all the other Mid Atlantic peeps. See you Saturday!

and now for your Moment of Zen...

Later.
