Off, Signed Up and Ranting (again)
No ride tonight. Just hangin' trying to get some bills paid and some race stuff organized.
Got the tubeless tires I won at French Creek sold on eBay last night. Sweet!
Registered for the Mohican 100 today...

Bad thing is I got so caught up in this coming weekend's race that I forgot to get registered by the early deadline so I f*cked myself out $20. DOH!
Got my brake pads today. Sweet! BUT! I went with a non HOPE brand and they came without pad springs. This sucks since I screwed mine up with the wearing the pads down to metal at French Creek, so in the interest of time and the fact that I f-ing need them I to order up some springs from the Goat. Shipping costs more than the springs. But I figure with gas at $3+ it's cheaper to have them sent than drive to Ligonier.
Speaking of high gas prices. Walking past the tv tonight I saw a news story about a group local Pittsburgh area students protesting high gas prices, and their inability to pay for it with shitty minimum wage jobs, by riding their bikes to school. Not a bad idea, good for them. Thes sad thing was seeing nearly forty 16 year olds walking thier bikes up the hill to the school because they were too out of shape to ride them. And the fact that it won't do anything but jack off a bunch of motorists.
Continuing on with this theme- my buddy Y-Nizzle has stated commuting to his teaching job at a local middle school. Good for him! Except that since he started he's had school bus drivers screaming at him to get off the road and has been "talked to" by his superiors about disrupting bus traffic flow by riding his bike on the side of the road that leads to the school.
What the F*CK is wrong with this country????
Done ranting. Time to make some food.
Later.

MOHICAN!!!
part of me is glad to see gas prices through the roof... a more energy conscience america is good for the planet, unfortunately, it's gonna totally crush our economy and inflation is about to explode... but what do i know?
Shit is gonna get bad before it's get's better, that's for sure. Yikes!
later. JM
I have to agree with jeff, higher gas prices force people to be smarter and more efficient. It'll suck at first but eventually it would be for the best.
Wish we had more races like this in my area. I'm wanting to try something in the 6-12 hr range but they are all so damn far away. woe is me.
I guess that's ONE good thing about living where I do. I'd still rather live out west and do my epic riding for free out my back door ;) but till that happens doing these races fill the void.
