Good News, Good Ride and Some Cool Stuff...

1st the good news: Wifey and I had some good news today at the Docs. Long story short- Wifey had a lump, picts were taken, etc., today was the meeting with the head honcho Doc. and he says the Wifey lump is in NO way cancer and is so small that she shouldn't worry about it. Whoo Hoo! If you've sensed that I've been a bit of a dick head lately, that's why. Should be a LITTLE more normal now. I can breathe easy and Wifey can rock some cancer free 38's.

Got a good road ride in tonight. Hit some new sections of road and got about 36 miles and 2:20 of saddle time. Weather was pretty warm. It was a 3 bottle ride and I had 2. Is there anything that f*cks with your mind more than a false flat? Man it looks like you should be putting the 53 tooth hammer down, you look down and you're maxed in 39! DOH!

Twin-Six hooked me up today with a cool-as shit limited "Tour" edition version of their Big Ring Brew Pub t-shirt...

In case you can't make out the photo it's the norm Big Ring T and down the side it says" OPERACION PUERTO DOPERS DIE PUB CRAWL 06- A CROOKED RIDE AGAINST CROOKED RIDERS". The shirts are available in Large & XL. Check out Twin-Six.com for ordering information or availability.

Also, due any day now from the fine folks at Salsa...
El Mariachi 6-29
Jason from Salsa posted this over on mtbr.com. This frame is so bitchin' looking! The El Mariachi steel 29er
in Tomatillia Green. The frame is a bit portly for racing (IMHO) but this would make a great companion for The Dos Niner. Train on El Mariachi and get the weight down a little more on the Dos and use it for racin'. Hmmmm. Too many bikes, too little money.

Also in 29er news: JHK rolled a 29er to a 2nd place short track finish last week...
JHK 29er 003

Finally for Jeff, check out this link for some looks/scoop on '07 C'Dales. Including picts of a carbon RUSH!

The Tour FINALLY rocked today. Mountains rule. Good stuff.

Later.

I hear you on the to many bikes thing. I have to stop myself from looking at bike sites because I get major new bike lust. Thankfully the romance factor between my X-Cal and I is still going strong, but man a carbon 29er hardtail or a Ti softail gets the juices flowing...

Speaking of Romance...the wife I just had our 7th anniversary. She was in Italy, I was home with the kids. we have yet to get around to celebrating. Ah well that is, as you said, the way marriage goes sometimes.

I bet you are breathing easier with the news about your wife.

Good to hear that everything is back in the "green zone" at your side. Health is the most important thing.

hey j, glad to hear the good news. I can imagine that the wait must have been killer.

Don't tell Marcy but I hope to have an el mariachi for ss duty by the fall. I'll Have to sell a couple of my other bikes first though. A steel 29'er single speed would be hella sweet.

Make sure you tell me which color Mariachi you get so I can get the same one ;)

Congrats on the good news! Can't imagine how scary that must've been.

Rick must've forgotten that I read your blog. Busted!!

Marcy,
Thanks. Yeah it we were a bit nervous.

Yeah, I was gonna mention something to Rick, but though it might be funnier to see him get busted (and it was).

J,

Good to hear the wife is healthy. Now go celebrate this weekend to both your anny and the good news. Come race Fair Hill on Sunday and say hello.

29ers rule. I have been on one for 8 days and cannot believe I held out so long. Folks who think they have too much invested in a 26er are just making excuses. I know, I did that for a few years. A mass produced aluminum 29er SS has made me happier than my Columbus steel custom built frame. Much happier.

There will be much celebrating to come. No racing for me though for about another 3 weeks or so.

The 29er just feels so natural. Probably even more to you with your CX.

Good luck,

j
