I Like My "Tea" When I'm Mucking the Fets

I'm 100% aborting the gym this fall/winter. I was looking back at my 2005 data on TrainingPeaks.com and I think I did better with workouts 4 - 5 time a weeks mixing up more on bike work outs, +core and strength. I did use a HR monitor to help control the on bike stuff then. Then it broke, so I might pick up one soon.

I thought that adding in more weight training last off season would be beneficial. All I really saw was some added weight gain. If I was more dicipline, maybe I could do it without gaining L-Bees, but I'm not. I'm 6'1" 177 right now. My goal is 139. Kidding. My goal is 170 and strong.

So this off season will be about core strength, flexibility and on bike leg strength. I also plan to be looser with workouts. Last year I would pass up a ride if I thought I wouldn't get my "hours" in. What the f*ck? It's about the RIDE not the hours spent doing arm curls!!

I bet you if I asked the local fast guys (all of whomb I think race for Dirty Harry's) how much time they spend lifting weights, I bet you they would say little to none. But they're commuting, riding after work, doing night rides all winter long. and kicking ass all summer long.

I'm thinking about geting rollers too. I've never used them and that may be a new skill to work on that would help pass cold, gray days of winter.

So I made it down to McBroom's Beer Distributor in Regent Square today during lunch. Had some malty goodness on the brain. So many good beers, so little money. Saw so much I wanted: Stoudt's Fat Dog, Victory Storm King Imperial Stout, and Anderson Valley Oatmeal Stout. ALLLLLL out of this kats's price range. Ended up with Troegs again. Not like I'm slumming it with that choice.

In other news stll unsure whether to sell El Santo outright or sell the part off. I'm leaning towards a Kona Kula 2-9 as a hard tail for next year. The complete bike has a freaking great parts package on a scandium frame. Only REAL down fall is the wheels. They kinda suck. Might order a pair of DT 240s/Salsa Rim wheels for the Dos Niner (race bike) and use the XT/Salsa Rims on the HT.

ALL of this is of course dependent on the sell of my El Santo so as not to spend/lose any jing since the cash well is dry but the lust well is overflowing. I'm also holding out to see what Salsa pimps out this year. 2nd Dos? El Mariachi? or Something else???

Why, I say WHY did I get a "googled" image of a "Muck The Fets" T shirt sent to me from KoKo today? 15 years ago that mean't something. :(

Late.

Cyclists mortal enemy...WEIGHT GAIN.

Im standing at 167 at the mo but need to get it down to nearer 160 before August next year when I am hoping to go with the club to traverse the ALPS in 6 days.Gonna be crossing 26 cols, cant be carrying excess weight of any kind.

My problem is I refuse to really watch my diet. For me cycling allows me to enjoy my food, have a few beers & not turn into a fat bastard.

Thinkin of starting a blog on 1st Jan to record my path to the Raid Alpine in 07

I love the weights we think of as "overwheight" mean while 75% of the US would kill to be at our weights! What's the UK like with that?

I think a blog leading to the Raid would be cool. Look foward to seeing it.

Sorry to hear that it's arrived. Who's next, FRANCE??

We try to be good with Brennan too. No soda pop, or crap like that. We're lucky that he seems to like fruit and some vegetables too.

Good luck.
