Making Up For Lost Time

No, the title is not referring to my entire racing career that is making up for the waste of my teen and early twenties years as a 300lb. shlub, but simply making up for yesterday's sub par mountain bike ride with a freaking SPECTACULAR 2:15/39.8 mile road ride today.

I hit all kinds of freaking hills today, making good friends with Mr. 39/25 and now regret my decision to not wear any sun screen, thinking that today would be as sunless as the past 6, but It was just perfect! Sun, blue sky, comfy temps. I wasn't expecting much from the ride either since I became very intimate with 5 or 6 Oatmeal Stouts yesterday. I guess all the post beer hydrating paid off.

Thinking of ordering up some new sneaks for the 29er from Bikeman.com World HQ. Probably going to go with the Kenda Klaws. They seem like a good tire, somewhat like the WTB Raptor. From what I read it will be slightly narrower than the advertised 2.1 size. OK by me. If the front is too narrow I'll throw the Ignitor on the front for technical trails.

This reminds me- what's is with people are tires? I know wider gives some better handdling, but over on MTBR.com you see all these peeps (see 29er forum) who bitch about the fact that a bike won't accept a 29x2.3 or "so-in-so" is coming out with a 2.5. WTF?? What exactly are you trying to roll over? I mean a 29x2.5 must weigh 3lbs.! We're riding bikes people!!

Oh well, that's it. Hope you all had a great weekend.

Later.

I have been a hold out on the 29'er thing until they announced the arrivel of some fat tires. I may not race with them, but they sure will be nice to have sometimes.

Oh, I think the 2.55 WTB should weigh a hair over two pounds. Much better than the four pound Gazzy I ran over the weekend.

Think they're out now. Don't see 'em on the site though.

now that the race season is nearing the end I'll be putting on the fatties again.

Maxxis is always a favorite but doesn't look like their making 29 inch tires?
