Not What I Planned, But It'll Do
I was all set to road ride after work today until a scan of the local radar on weather.com from my windowless office showed thunderstorms heading right towards White Oak. F*ck! Oh well, ride aborted, but I still got an hour on the trainer in. Nice spin through the gears working my way up and down the 12/25 doing some nice 1 & 2 minute sustained efforts whilst listening to iPodious.
The kick in the junk came after my spin when I looked outside and saw that it NEVER rained! WTF?? It was heading right for us! Oh well, tomorrow looks good, so I plan to get 25 to 30 miles in after work. Getting a little harder now that it getting dark a bit earlier. I'll get it done though.
Felt good to be in the saddle and work the bad vibes from this past weekend out and try to re-focus on what season is left. My plan is to play the 12 Hours of Big Bear by ear. If the weather looks ok, and the legs feel good, I'll give it a go, if not I'll shift gears to Iron Cross in October. I'd rather do the 12 Hours though, since it's closer and the price is right.
Later.

I think I crossed a threshold a few weeks back when I pulled out of my driveway in the rain! I got out of it in about 10 minutes but it found me again about 15 minutes later. I rode in and out of rain for the entire ride, but I didn't regret the ride. My main complaint with the rain is the cleanup afterwards, but I probably don't clean my bike as much as I should, so it works out. I've also been told that should pull your seat stem out and drain any water that may have found its way the seat tube, i.e. you can't use grease around the seat tube on a carbon frame.
Heck, if you can ride in the 7 Spring muck, what's a little rain?
I think the Seven Spring muck is what made NOT want to, ha!
My only real problem with road riding in the rain is I never stop wondering if cars can see me if the rains get heavy.
Later.
