Operation "Just In Case"
Not sure wether I'm racing the 12 Hours down at Big Bear on Saturday or not right now, but JUST in case I got the Dos Niner cleaned, tubed and lubed tonight. Plus some gear ready.
I'd like to race so I can end the season on a higher note than my last effort (or lack-there-of). But as I've mentioned cash is on the low side for spare parts and as we all know mud and water blow through bike parts like shit through a race week cyclist. So if it looks like an epic mud fest I'll abort, but if it's just a chance of rain as it is right now I'll get my chamois lubed for 12 hours of WV singlerack.
I'll be doing this one full blown Solo. No support, since Wifey is banned from my races until next year do to bad luck. Harsh? Check these stats....
Bad luck started 12 hours of Lodi Farms I suffer a.m. stomach issues and call it 45 minutes before noon an am lucky to get a 7th place finish. Not so bad? Let's move on...
2nd race she helped with was the Hardcore 24 in NY. 95 degree heat, nearly dehydrated and suffering chills, I DNF after 7 laps. Upon arriving in front of my house I accidently back in to a car causing $500 worth of damage to it.
3rd race- she helped at was Seven Springs. Epic rains, cold, and wind. I pull out after 4 laps, finish 10th lucky in a way to avoid the DNF. While at the race Wifey at some point broke her engagement ring and lost the dimond.
Total- 3 races attended by Wifey, 1 sub par finish, 1 DNF, 1 last place, and $2,000+ in lost or damaged goods. Good times, good times.
This is of course all in good fun, since I KNOW I'm lucky to have a Wifey that willingly comes to my races, helps out, and supports me even when I'm sucking up the joint. Thanks Wifey! Maybe next year we'll get it done.
Later.
