Up The Stank!

Wow, going back to work after a holiday (or any weekend really) always sucks, and today was no different. Pissed down hard rain all day, and there was little work to do. All it made for was a long day of Net surfing and clock watching. That combination makes for a lonnnnng day.

Tonight it was to the Stankment® for spinning and weights. I increased time on the bike and added some mild increases in weights. I also introduced some 5 minute low cadence (50 RPM) muscle tension intervals to make up for the lack of leg specific weight equipment I have.

Why is it that along with onions, gasoline, and baby poop, trainer glove stank is one of the hardest smells to get off the hands?? Soap, shampoo, rinse, repeat, and I SWEAR I can still smell that disgusting hand B.O.! I just can NOT keep up with the glove washings and refuse to wear my good gloves on the trainer. Going bare back is not an option because I hate the feeling of sweaty hands on the bars. I tried some scented hand lotion, but now my hands smell like the stinky old lady that inevitably gets in front of me in the grocery store check out line. Oh well. Stank happens.

Later.

I go with a towel draped over the bars instead of gloves. That allows you to avoid the hands on bar feel, gives dripping sweat a place to land other than your stem and floor and you can wash them every time if you want (although I only do every few times depending on the amount of sufferage endured).

I second the towel. I also have one of those terry pieces that form a hammock of sorts between to the seat post and the bars. This is a godsend for anyone with a steel frame.

All good ideas. Sadly my trainer bike is a already defunct steel cx bike that I show no mercy with my sweat.
