OK, This Is NOT Fun!
Yeah, yeah, I know. It's January in Pittsburgh. What kind of weather did I expect? But this is re-god-damn-diculous! It's like 10 degrees out and WAY colder than that with the wind chill. I'm talking INSTAnipples™.
If you ride in this shit, my hats off to you (Rick!), but I just can NOT do it. I mean I wasn't gonna ride today anyway, given this is the end of a "slack/rest week" before I start upping saddle time tomorrow. But my brain just could not even process a thought that came close to me thinking of strapping on the chamois for a ride outside. DDDDDamn.
Just 'cause there's no saddle time doesn't mean I wasn't still obsessing about bikes and racing. I spent the day at my dad's with B-Man. While B-Man played, I cruised the Net looking at some a some possible new hydration systems (looking for something small and race worthy), and for the 1,000th time checking what Princeton Tec lights I want to run. I got it nailed!
Finally my new site of the day is The Daily Dog by Patrick O'Grady (of VeloNews fame). Check it out. Dude rocks. He has that Hunter S. Thomson/Bob Roll vibe going on and I totally dig it. I need to do a massive link updated soon.
Oh well time for some adult beverage and some grub. Stay warm folks! Unless of course it's warm where you are which in that case I pretty much hate you. In a "I'M SO F*CKING JEALOUS" sort of way.
Later.

it was a balmy 22 degrees today with a wind chill of around 9. It seemed so warm compared to the riding lately that I didn't even wear a coat!
Not warm here either, but what lighting did you decide on? On the hunt myself.
Travis,
I'm 99% sure it will be the Switchack 3 as my main light and most likely a PT Apex as a back up/secondary light.
SB3 gets 6.5 hours of burn and the Apex will run all night and then some. One battery and I'm set. The 1% long shot is the SB2 as the main light. Won't know 10% until Feb. when I'll be getting my hands on some. I'll keep you posted.
Hats off you Rick. I can't do it man. Once in a while, and that's it.
it was cold, but the trails were great... get out next week for sure...
monkey rode outside yesterday, did the trainer today
Have plans for some single track on Sat. Frozen = hard pack and fast.
Thanks for the light feedback, still hoping to meet up with the PT boys in a couple weeks for a demo (weather turn to crap last week and they're out for a bit.)
The trails are great thou, as hard as a rock...but sweet.
It was 55 degrees here the other day and I was shocked at how layered up people were. I actually saw a guy wearing a balaclava!
It's all relative, I guess.
I'm going to be coming back to cold weather soon...brr. Hopefully I haven't become to soft!
Im with Danielle, Lotta people in Cali wearing Balaclavas these days. Really weird
In 55* weather?? Eeesh. It took under 20 for me to even BUY one. And I'm a wuss!!
