Nothing Like It
I finally got my aging, sagging, buns back on the mountain bike tonight. It was just PERFECT there really is nothing like a ride in the woods. The road has it's moments, but 2 hours of weaving through the trees on tight ass single track is just the titz. PERIOD!
I was on the Mamasita tonight for the first time in a LONG time. It was sporting the Dos Niner's old Reba fork. I sort of miss the black Reba's looks, but the silver 06 Reba has always performed better for me and tonight was no exception. The last time I was on a mountain bike was in the mud and rocks of French Creek for nearly 6 hours. Riding the dry single track of Boyce seemed like a piece of cake.
Tonight was also another one of those rides that I could see and feel the progression of my '08 fitness. Call it being "in the zone" or finding your "sweet spot" or whatever you want, but you probably know what I'm talking about. An obstacle seems a little easier, a climb seems a little shorter, your pace a little faster, etc., etc., It's such a great feeling. I'm not saying I'm AM faster or getting better, just that the work on the road and some early season races seems to be paying off with a nice feel for the bike/trail. And it feels ggggooood.
The back was pretty much 100% all day today. Figures I have a 9 a.m. appointment with the Chiropractor and I'm feeling good. Oh well, I'm sure the back could use some work. I'm not gonna bitch too much about NOT having pain!
Picked the Dos Niner up from Master Tom tonight. The Fox looks and feels amazing on the Dos Niner. I'm stoked to FINALLY have it all done. Hope to throw up some pics tomorrow. I had a late night tonight with no time for bike porn. Always nice to eat dinner at 9:00 p.m.
