Birthdays, Bad Beer, Work & Dutch Ovens
No ride today due to hanging with B-Man whilst Wifey went to the gym to try to get her 37 year old self in shape. It's also Wifey's B-Day and we have some post Wifey "sweat fest" festivities (dinner and small cake) to take care of. Who knows, if the planets align just right, there JUST might be some crime to take care of in her 37 year old neighborhood.
I need to vent about a beer. Victory Brewing's Whirlwind Wheat. Holy suck-a-lot. I love just about everything that Victory puts in a bottle, but I have to say I am NOT digggin' the Whirlwind Wheat. I've had it before and dug it. Not sure what the problem is, but it does not hold up as a wheat beer and it is a poor excuse for a Belgian White. Check out the web site. They beautiful foamy head that they show just does NOT happen. If you can get one to happen it lasts for about 30 seconds. I will say if you drink out of a bottle you don't notice it holds up. I had a case of Celis White in my hands last week and put in back in favor a PA brewer. Damn. Looks like I need to go buy something else tomorrow.
Big work stuff going on today. "Streamlining" they call it. I call it "folks losing their jobs". I once again escaped harm. HOW, I do NOT know??? I guess they think I'm good or something. I may be moving offices for the 5th time though. That sort of sucks. I hate change. Getting tired of worrying about getting laid off from I job I hate. I almost wish it would just happen already so I would be more motivated to do something that I would actually enjoy/be passionate about with my life. Until then, I'll just keep plugging along for the paycheck and the vacation time. I'll try to keep the passion where it belongs. With my racing attempts and this blog.
In the end a disappointing night from a fitness/nutritional stand point. There was no ride or workout, but there WAS beer, Mexican food, and cake. I guess I have to just focus on the fact that it was only a few beers, the Mexican was made with lean ground beef, brown rice, fat free cheese and Guiltless Gourmet chips. Oh well. Just another excuse to try to ride longer this weekend. Plus I'm trying to put on another layer of fat to burn during Solo events. ;)
Have you ever received a catalog from Rapha? I got one in the mail yesterday. My God is it sweet! More like a small magazine, with great photos, good stories, on a sweet stock of paper. Oh yeah, it also has a bunch of sweet cycling gear that I could not begin to be able to afford. Really a cool booklet with some killer pics and design. I dig it the most.
Time to go unbutton my pants, let one rip and go to bed. Nothing says "happy birthday" like a Dutch Oven. Kidding of course. Sort of. OK, yes, I'm that gross. My bad.
Later.

Rapha stuff is sweet, but like you say, way out of my range. Maybe once I'm independently wealthy. They do have the best catalog around though - hands down.
$290 for a jacket. Whoa!
I have 2 jerseys and they are pretty cool, but after careful consideration, i have decieded that they are simply too expensive. Sometimes they sell of end of season stuff, but so far I haven't managed to snag anything. I am afraid that this is an area where you guys are really feeling the pain in the exchange rate. I am personally really happy with my new fatcyclist.com jersey from Twin Six.
The other guys have the Rapha stuff covered so I'm going right for the Dutch Oven.......awesome, simply awesome!
nothing says "foreplay" like a steaming dutch oven.
