Sunday, Sunday, Here Again...

After a sub par Saturday evening, Saturday night ended with me falling asleep on the front porch swing with my iPod playing away for a few hours before I dragged my ass up to bed. A good nights sleep and I was ready for some time on the Campeon out around my Dad's digz today.

Today was just freaking beautiful. Temps in the high 70s, sun, a breezy. If anything TOO breezy! And always a head wind of course. I don't mind these windy days as much when it's warm, that's for sure. Sure beats those icy cold, early March head winds that cut right through you. Summer winds are annoying, but I just look at them as adding to the workout.

Road Ride 6.1.08

I went without a cap today. Big mistake. I like to wear a cap since I sweat like freaking PIG and the cap usually does a pretty good job of keeping the sweat off my glasses. I thought the air would feel nice on my noggin, and it did. But I had to deal with sweat dripping on my glasses and bugs flying into my helmet vents. Nothing like feeling what may or may not be a bee under your lid, ready to sting your sweaty ass scalp. I tried to capture the sweat all over my glasses in the pic above, but it really didn't turn out. Instead it's just a typical sweaty, air gasping, snot dripping cycling blogger seIf portrait. Sorry. I love looking through streaked lenses on a 40 mph down hill. Next time CAP!!! OR maybe I'll start wearing a sweat band...

You know, to "absorb forehead perspiration".

In the end I got a nice 40 mile loop in, worked on my bike tan and got in some good Zen time. B-Man had a great time playing with his cousins today and fell asleep on the way home of course. I think he may STILL be sleeping!
Time for some food, a beer or two and calling chiropractor to cancel this week's appointments. I wouldn't mind some additional work from the dude, but damn! Who has the time for all these visits, a job, training, family, packing and racing??? Holy crap.

Hope you all got some miles in this weekend. If you're one of the one of like 20 guys racing solo at Big Bear I hope you got TOO many miles in, your legs are like lead, and you're thinking there's NO way you'll survive a 24 Solo next weekend. Kidding!! Sort of. ;)

Later.

I, like you, have a head that leaks water like no tomorrow.

I found this Pace Mesh Helmet Liner, http://www.hammernutrition.com/za/HNT?PAGE=PRODUCT&CAT=CYCLING&PROD.ID=6257&OMI=10152,10050,10047&AMI=10152&uir=product.category,CYCLING,Cycling though, and it works like a champ. The cool part is, it has a no sweat stripe. Since I started wearing it this spring, I have not had any sweat filled glasses on a ride.

the parallels continue. I did my race this weekend sans cap (first ride this year without it) because of the heat. I didn't have any trouble with sweat though. I suggest trying a less sweaty head! :)
