What Does Your Sol Look Like? Part I

Not too much going on today. Monday is a rest day, so there was no riding. Just some gut churning from the excitement of racing for 24 hours this coming weekend. I'm in that in between stage of having to have gear to ride with and packing for every conceivable ride condition that one could experience over 24 hours. On top of that I have a pop up tent, tent, food, etc., etc. ,to get together over the next few days. I mentioned to Wifey that part of me almost wants to just show up and see how long I can race over 24 hours with the bare minimum of gear. Who knows, that STILL might happen. The list of Solos is up to like 22 racers. That rocks and may be the most racers I've ever raced against for a 24 hours solo.

When I was out and about running some errands at lunch time today I spied a Mamasita on top a vehicle that belongs to one of the other Solo guys. I remembered him from the Wilderness 101 last year. So out on Business 22 I pulled up along side of him at a red light, wound down my window started screaming- "You ain't got sh*t mother f*cker!! Bring it on BEEEEOTCH!!!" Etc., etc., He turned pale and started shaking at the fear that I just put into him.

I'm kidding of course. I did see the car/bike that I believe belongs to John, but I of course was only thinking "I wonder how much his Mamasita weighs?" Yep, I'mmmmm a geek.

I came home today to find a package from
Salsa HQ that contained this...

Mucho thanks to Salsa for their support in 2008 and for thinking of me as an Amigo. The jersey rocks and is (for lack of a better word) much more subdued than other Salsa jerseys. Cool Rasta colo scheme with a cool Salsa logo on the back pocket. There were no Bob Marely CDs or zip lock baggies full of Jamaican ganja included. Just a sweet ass jersey. This should see some time at Big Bear for sure. Thanks for the threads!

Speaking of Salsa. Keep your ballz peeled to www.salsacycles.com and the WWW. on June 16th. The pasty white from 11.5 months of winter folks at Salsa are itching to turn up the heat of summer and unveil TWO new rides real soon! This is a good AND a bad thing. Good because I know Salsa (and myself) are geeked to unleash some spicy heat on the industry. And BAD because I can NOT be wanting to get another bike built up. I mean I don't know who would kill me first, Wifey or Master Tom?? Either way, look for two new rides and an updated Salsa web site come the evening of June 16th and the through the week there of. Stay tuned to Salsacycles.com and right here for more info. (I think I just peed my pants a little).

If storms hold off I hope to get out after work for some dirt time and to get my Fox fork dialed in tomorrow. Last night I put a new set of sneakers on the Dos Niner. Going with full on IRD/Panaracer Fire Pros. Not the fastest rolling tire, but at Big Bear there really are not that many places that call for a fast rolling tire. I want grip and reliability. The Fire Pro may be my fave all condition tire right now, with the Maxxis Ignitor a close second.

Time for sleep. I will need plenty of that his week.

Later.
