Mountain Goodness Baked Right In

Headed up to Seven Springs for some more Two-4 course riding. It was just PERFECT conditions. Down here in the Dubya-Oh it was bout 90* and humid. Up on the mountain it was a warm, in the mid/low 80s, but NO humidity! It rocked!

The course was in PRIMO condition and was a blast to ride. I did two solid laps with no stops other than to drain the ol' chamois lizard and mark my turf so as to keep the bears at bay! ;) I took no pics today, it was all bizness. I wanted to get a feel for my pace, really try to learn the lines and fuel properly. I had some serious success in the Phillip Seymour Hoffman Memorial Rock Garden on the second half of the course (don't ask why I call it that, long story). I remembered some possible lines from last week's ride and tried them out with some kick ass success! I love the fact that A. 29" wheels kick ass through the rocks and B. The BEST line is NOT always the SMOOTHEST line. Sometimes your have to let your wheels use the rocks. MAKE the rocks your bitch. Keep your pedals moving and keep rolling. I was geeked. I've been riding this course for years and I have to admit that today was the first time since they changed the direction through the rock garden that I cleaned it. JOY!

Thankfully, there were no bear sightings today. I did a lot of whistling coming into blind corners, that's for sure. The Dos Niner rocked today and ran super smooth. I may have to flip the stem or add some spacers though. Last year I flipped and lowered it to get bit more of race feel. This year my back seems to be bothered by it. I'm gonna flip it back and see what happens. As long as I can keep the front wheel sticking to the ground on the climbs I should be fine. I get no back pain on the Mamasita, and I SWEAR I have the two bikes set up almost identical. Hmmmm.

Ran into Seven Springs Trail Gnome and Champion area native Matt after my ride. He was the man behind the new single track on the course. He clued me into some new single track that will most likely be part of the course in 2008 too. Thanks Matt!

Oh well, time for a couple Leg Humpers (or 5), some Mexican food, and some lovin' from Wifey.

Later.

What's up with the dude in blue speedo's and flip flops being chased uphill by a mountain bike?
