Wheelz, Irony's Death & Rest

Came home today to find a big azz box from Bikeman.com in the casa. Oh, yeah, new wheelz for Daddy (I'm "daddy" by the way. But you knew that).

I love my wheels on the Dos Niner and wanted to get some light, dependable wheels for the Mamasita too. I wanted to go a different route for this build though. The Dos Niner sports Bontrager Mustang hoops, Hope Pro II hubs, double butted silver spokes, black Wheelsmith alloy Nipples and red Salsa Flip Off skewers. The Mamasita's new wheels are Bontrager Mustang hoops, Hope Pro II hubs, double butted silver spokes, black DT alloy Nipples and black Salsa Flip Off skewers. OK, OK, "different route" might be a stretch, but I saw nothing I wanted to change other than some nipple quality and skewer colors. This is a solid, lightish wheel set, that has worked well for me. AND I dig it. The Hope Pro II hubs are a great deal if you can put up with the whirling clicking noise of the free hub. Which I can. It keeps me company on my rides. From the looks of the build they look great. Thanks to Big Al and Bikeman.com for another sweet custom wheel build!

It will be nice to have light wheels on a great bike like the Mamasita. It will also be nice to know that I have some lighter wheels ready to go later this year or next for a possible new solo race frame. ;) Speaking of possible new race frames and the lust there of...

There's some Big Mama's up at Speedgoat. Check the Speedgoat blog for details. I was hoping to make it up there to check out the Big Mama, but sadly the bikes will be returning to the land of spicy goodness come Wednesday and I can't make it up that way before Friday. Frig.

Not much else going on today. Grillin' some burgers, eatin' some salad, washing some bikes, hanging with B-Man and general mischief.

Dirt tomorrow. Can't wait.

Later.
Later.

From what I hear it should rock. The frame is a bit heavy, but with the right parts mix should still be sub 30. For you for sure since you would probably rock a smaller frame than me. Jason from Salsa has one of his prototypes built up with XTR and racier parts, but I never got a weight on it.

I'm not sure I can see doing a 100 or it, but for doing a 12 or 24 with PA/WV rocks and roots, it should be just the ticket. We shall see...
