Silver Foxes & The Apocalypse

Well this week is at least starting better than last week! I mean really any Monday that has me NOT in the emergency room of a Pittsburgh hospital is a pretty good Monday! I'm still laying pretty low ride wise. I might hit the rail trail to spin the legs a couple times this week, but other than that I'm still a bit too spooked to do any hard core riding.

I did take the time tonight to gussy up my Dos Niner. Getting off all the mud that still clung to her after my last ride in the mountains. I have to admit I was tempted to eat a hunk of mud off the down tube. To taste the sweet taste of the mountains one more time. But then I remembered all the horse shit I rode through. I wanted to taste mountain dirt NOT horse feces.

The Dos Niner sure cleans up nice, and man the Fox really pops when you get all the grime of it. Still not sure white was the best idea for a fork, but hey it's at least it's recognizable. Fox White now ranks up there with Judy Yellow and Sid Blue.

In a way it works, white goes with everything and their logos stand out more on the white background than they do on black. YOU might not think those stickers are marketing, but they are. I really loved the old Fox 100 that I had on my El Santo (now on one of my buddy Tom's bikes). Maybe they should have stuck with silver? But then again, maybe they thought they would have folks lusting everyone's favorite "silver fox" Bea Arthur?
That's a mmmmann baby!

Lastly I have to tell you that the Apocalypse is surely upon us! I now own a cell phone. Frig! I held out as long as I could, but last weeks health issue pushed Wifey over the edge and I'm now forced to have one. I guess it's for the best. It's charged and good to go. Not sure I know how to make a call, but it's charged.

Later.

Trust me on this.., in 2 yrs you will feel naked if you leave your crib w/out a cell.
I hardly use mine but the 'just in case' factor is real, esp when going out on a roadride or long day in mtns.
This coming from a serious luddite..
