Gray Friday

Black Friday, blah, blah, blah. I'm sorta sickened at the celebration of over-the-top consumerism that IS "Black Friday". But I joined the f*ck in for sure! OK, I wasn't out buying Christmas gifts out the yin-yang, but I DID make it to Pro Bikes to pick up my wheels. I enjoyed the hell of seeing them, feeling how FREAKING light they are (by my standards), and installing them on the Dos Niner when I got home. Tim C. did an incredible job building them and I swear I lost over a pound of rotating rate to boot. After I calmed down from all the Velosturbation, I then proceeded to feel guilty for buying them for the rest of the evening. In the end I'm just saying "F*ck it" I have sweet wheels. End of story. Although I DO foresee a credit card balance transfer in my future.

I was gonna blow off doing a ride today, but then Wifey was able to split work early, so I figured I'd do a quick 20 miles on the rail trail to burn some turkey calories. EEsh, I burnt some for sure! The trail was a tad mushy, and my speed hovered around 12/13 mph when it normally is around 15/17+ mph. The chilly air and wet limestone threw me a nice beat down for sure. While others dealt with "Black Friday", I dealt with "Gray Friday" in the form of gray, wet limestone and a gray late November sky.

I started around 3:50 p.m.. That meant I had to bring some lights with me. So I mounted up the Princeton-Tec SBIII on the bars. Have I mentioned that the 2009 Switchback 3 is going to TWICE as bright as the current model?? TWICE as bright and still getting about 6.5 hours of burn time on high. That's sick. SICK! Can't wait to do some comparing in the near future. (F.Y.I. ALL the switchbacks received upgrades this year. Even the tiny "rectal exam ready" SB One is now twice as bright. Shhhheittttt. P-Tec is gonna kill it this year.

Sometimes I think I just MIGHT be taking too much stuff on a ride! Just on the bars was a computer, light, and heart rate monitor. Then there was a camera in my jacket pocket, an iPod in my jersey, and a cell phone in my pack (for in case I would stroke out or something). Jezzus 8ch I don't have that much shit on my office desk!

With a CX race on Sunday I just might do a low key road ride tomorrow or nothing. The legs feel like frozen shit-sickles right now. Time to chill and let a couple beers course through my brain and some White Trash Mexican food course through my colon.

Later.

You better take that heart rate monitor off your bars for tomorrow. You won't like what you'll see. Ha! Also, be prepared for more "motivation". See you at the race tomorrow.
