The Same But Different

[10:45 PM EDIT] NICE!...

"Hey Y'all!

The trail is an ice sheet, it'll probably be crunchy, muddy, and just plain nasty for the race.

Perfect for the inaugural SNOTCYCLE!!"

Busy day today. First the Dos Niner needed dropped off at Pro Bikes for some love. LBofH is gonna put some new cables/housing on for me and re-Stan's me if needed. Then it was home to get my BIG ring workout in, do a bunch of house shit, make dinner and pack for Leesburg. I've never packed for an XC race before. I REALLY feel like I'm forgetting something. I'd have even less shit if this was a spring/summer race. But who knows how many layers I'll need?? Even with all those layers, one BIG ASS bag and a big ass wheeled bike will do. I'm used to my whole living room being stacked with tents, bags, bikes and equipment. It's kinda nice.

I saw that the Lumberjack 100 is now sold out. Man, I'm glad I signed up when I did! Speaking of hundies... while sitting at work today, not really working at all, I was thinking about how geeked I am for the coming season and my attempt to race at least four 100 mile races in the N.U.E. series.

I started looking back to 2007 (the last time I did some 100s) and read a couple posts from June of that year. I thought it was funny to see these quotes from me then:

"
I regret not sticking to my plan of doing 4 of the NUE series or more this year. I wish I was heading to Michigan for the Lumberjack"

"I said it before, I'll say it again- 100 milers rock! Granted I've only done three (2 Mohican 100s and 1 (edit-now two) Wilderness 101 but those are three of the best races I've ever done. Not the best RESULTS, but the best races."

Nice! Looks like in 2009 I WILL be heading to the Lumberjack and I WILL be doing at least 4 of the races. I hope I feel the same way at the end of 2009! I have no doubt I will.

Gotta get some stuff done. Off to Leesburg with 3 other dudes and maybe one chicky tomorrow. How many bike geeks can you fit into one hotel room?? Race report Saturday night or Sunday. Wifey informed me that Spring officially starts the day I do my first race. So forget about the snow and ice!! WELCOME SPRING!!

Later.
