Slow Burns And Burning Calories

Damn it's cold. I mean friggin' COLD! I actually looked forward to climbing on the trainer tonight. That's about the only way I would be able to sweat today.

Tonight was LOW 50-60 RPM stuff. B-Man came down to visit me and asked why I was moving so slow. It's hard enough to explain to a 4 year old why you are on a bike going nowhere, let alone why you're on a bike going that slow. It was sort of the same reaction he had the other night when he saw me get down to do my Plank exercises and said "you're not even moving, why is that exercise". I of course was a jack off and told him to try it. It didn't take him long to figure out why it IS exercise! ;) Of course he schooled me good when he did push ups on his fists. OK, he only did 3, but that's 3 more than me, and he's FOUR! BTW if you clicked on that "how to" Plank YouTube video, you will have noticed that I think I discovered and untapped porn genre. Hot Chicks With English Accents Doing Core Exercises.

It felt great to sweat for an hour, listen to some tunes and even chat with the B-Man. Had some nice motivation as I registered for Snotcycle today. Who knows what the conditions will be like? I don't care if it's cold, I just hope it isn't that cold ass rain stuff that plagued me at the Murrysville Cross race and on my tempo ride on the rail trail last week. That shite just chills my ass to the bone. I'd rather have snow! No matter what, it should be a good time no matter what.

Brad, Don and I are all registered for the race., now we just need the newly titled "Little Ball of Hate*" to register and we'll be gold. *Don P. gets full credit for giving Tim (formerly Tim The Enchanter) the new nickname of Little Ball of Hate. I guess Don will want royalties every time I use the term now. Shit, then he'll want cash for "Jesus Jason" too.

I was also motivated by the fact that I got a message yesterday from the Head Nacho @ Salsa Cycles to let me know my Big Mama is heading my way. Shweeet. I just need a couple more parts. I have to find a new seat post... Looking for a Thomson, RaceFace, or Salsa Shaft size 31.6mm x 305-400mm. Found a Thomson yesterday for good price, but I'm gonna hold off for a week or so. Regardless, all of this Big Mama Snotcycle thinking added some nice fuel to the work out.

I'm FINALLY starting to see some weight loss happening. It's only about 4 or 5 pounds, but I'm glad to see progress. I have to chalk it up to the fact I haven't had a drop of alcohol in 15 days (although that may end tomorrow with a couple beers at a dinner part we're going to), getting off of the Big Z., and the fact that I've been measuring and weighing 99% of all my food. Buying a cool little digital scale was one of the best things I've done. Weighing my food and keeping track of all my calories, carbs, fat and protein on TheDailyPlate.com has been really good for me. Some people might think it's a bit psycho, but seem pretty normal to me. Then again...

I started using Stevia In The Raw this week. I'm a big coffee guy. 16 to 20 oz. of coffee with skim milk and sugar. The sugar was really adding up. Grizzly Adam and Dave Harris both told me about Stevia some time ago, but at that time you had to go to specialty stores or mail order it and it just wasn't worth the trouble in my opinion. Now you can finally get it in the grocery stores. Beware though, some companies add chemicals to "enhance" the flavor. Stevia In The Raw does not. I'm diggin' the flavor, to me iit doesn't have that medicine flavor that many imitation sugars have. Nice to have a natural alternative to sugar.

Time for some Wii, reading, maybe some YouTube "plank videos" and bed.

Later.

"you're not even moving, why is that exercise" - AWESOME! Ya gotta love the POV of a four year old.

I can't take credit for "L.B. of H.". It was the nickname of former hockey player Pat Verbeek. But I feel it describes Tim's riding perfectly.

Man I can't believe you just pulled Pat Verbeek out of your ass! Who are you, Bill Clement?

I started using daily plate again the other day too. I've been eating waaaayyyy to much junk. don't think I'll be getting the meth lab scale anytime soon though...

I am still blown away by the whole no beer thing. That is one treat I will not deny myself of, though the thought of loosing 5 pounds in 3 weeks is nice. Good luck!

I will be at the Snotcycle too!

Should be a good time. I am just a little worried about temps. 20 or below and we will need to wear too many layers, 35 or higher and it could be a muddy mess. Hoping for 32!

I am riding for a team this year as well - - Allied Milk out of Lancaster.

Looking forward to the season. I am currently 20 lbs less than my race weight last year and hoping for 10+ more off by time the MASS gets going.

I use fitday, but I'm sure they are similar. I like to track it also. Gives me something else to do during the day ;) Also keeps me in check so I don't wind up eating an extra 500+ calories thinking I can "afford" to.
