Hungover
The Monday Morning Hangover was in full effect this morning. No, not a hangover from swilling bad beer, watching the Steelers win the Super Bowl and setting couches on fire in the city streets 'till all hours of the morning, although I'm sure plenty of locals were feeling the effects of THAT this morning. But the Monday Morning Race Weekend Hangover.
I know you know what I mean! The alarm goes off, and you're slapped in the face with the reality that you are expected to show up at work and "do stuff". Expected to talk about things that have NOTHING to do with bikes whatsoever! Seriously?? REALLY??
No way can you concentrate. You just can't stop thinking of lap times, equipment choices, and what you ate, or DIDN'T eat, during the race. You think about where you placed, who placed in front of you and who placed in back. How can you be expected to go to work?? It's just not right!
Unlike many folks who spend their hangover mornings renouncing alcohol kneeling at the porcelain throne, or sucking down some "hair of the dog", you KNOW you're going to do it again. If you won, you want to win again. If you DNFed, you want redemption. If you finished just off the box, you want another shot. And if you just plain ol' had fun, you want to have MORE fun! Is that so wrong??
But today is Monday. You need to roll your ass out of bed, get ready and get to work. You know you'll be useless to your employer today. You'll spend most of your day hiding in your cubical, cruising the Net looking for updated race results, Googling for race photos, and hitting Bikereg.com to lay down another 30 bills or more to race again.
It's not your fault it's Monday. People will just have to deal. Maybe you'll get 'round to working tomorrow, but not today. Today is your day. To get focused. Not on their work, but the REAL work at hand- The next race.
By the way, the updated results have me 11th not 10th, maybe if I would have used my hydraton pack I would have drank more? I think I need a bike fit, I ran too much tire pressure, I have found no race pictures of myself and my next race is the Camp Hilbert 5 Hour Enduro on March 8th. Gotta love Monday.
Later.

I do the same shit on Mondays..this lack of pics is discouraging, esp since it was such unique backdrop for a Mtb race..
Hilbert is a good build up to LBD, 5hrs seems right. Tough but not too much. BOB might be out there lapping the field too.
I'll be in Colo trying to snowboard...eek
Can't wait for those types of mondays
I'm sure everyone at work can't stand me on Race Hangover Mondays. Race, Race, Race. Bike, Bike, Bike. Blah, Blah, Blah.
Work? I'm checking results, looking for (non-existent) photos. How can I be expected to work?
I KNEW I wasn't the only one! ;)
Makes you wonder what the hell the rest of the world "does".
A picture of glazed eyes looking into a flickering monitor comes to mind
