Back At It
Well after 3 days off the bike, and in a post race Bell Jar, I was back at it today, and it felt so good to be back on the bike. Even though that bike was my road bike. In the end who cares what sort of bike it was or what kind of riding it was. I was riding my bike and my legs felt good.
The ride was nice even though fall seems to have returned to WPA. Temps in the low 60s/high 50s and rain. It was as damp and muddy as a Belgian cross race, but with a 0% cool factor. AND everything seemed to smell like dead fish. Why is that? I saw no fish, yet the air reeked of a Carp's nut sack (do they even have said items?). Really it wasn't so bad, warm enough that I didn't need a jacket and cold enough not to sweat like a fool. Again, the important part is that my legs felt good. The Dos Niner is at Pro Bikes getting some man on bike wrench love. Fork getting lubed up, new seals, cables, and a few other items as needed. Hope to have it back soon and do some lovin' on it myself. Given all the rain, we've had, I'm probably forced to the road until the weekend anyway, so as long as the Campeon keeps going, it's all good.
Net Flicked an art nerd movie the other day- Helvetica. I really dug this documentary, but Wifey refused to watch it. I believe the phrase used was "I'm not watching a movie about a freaking font!" The part I enjoyed most was when all the love for Helvetica was over and designers like David Carson and his ilk started doing more the opposite of what Helvetica represents in design. Truth be told I'm a sucker for modermism (Swiss Style) and postmodernism. I guess that makes me some sort of design slut. OK, art nerd rant off.
Not sure what Thursday will offer bike wise. Time for more sleep (that which I seem to NOT be able to enough of) and what not.
Later.

I went for a road ride this afternoon, right before THE STORM OF THE CENTURY. I did not think I was going to make it home alive. I was half way into a road loop near my house, basically beginning a 5-6 minute descent, and in the span of a couple of minutes, 50 mph winds, sheets of rain and hail tried to kill me. I think it took my 15 minutes to get down the hill. I don't think it ever stops raining here. I'm still a little rattled. BUT - no dogs this time!
Wow! You have NOT had good luck with the rides so far. Things are pretty moist here too. The whole Pgh. area is like a stinky, dirty, wet wash cloth.
Thankfully I just had to deal with some misty rain.
Ooh I love fonts. Not particularly fond of Helvetica, but hey ;)
FWIW, the word verif is "fersale". Anything good? :)
"a Carp's nut sack"
I needed that this morning, good stuff.
Sans Serif fan here, Don't like all those fancy serifs.
I really dig the Comic Sans.
