So Much and Not So Much
I aborted any ride today to get work done on the mag, and to save up energy for a BIG ASS ride on the mountain tomorrow. I need to test some shit out, since as of today I am officially registered for the Wilderness 101. Part of me wanted to forget about it and do the Big Bear Ultra. But as we all know I'll probably end up doing the BBU too. 'Cause I got a problem. An endurance race problem. It' s sad really. I'm really too young to be stricken down with such an issue.
Look at this course profile for the 101. Who could resist???
Up, down, up, down, etc., etc., etc., This will be my 3rd 101. It's obvious that I do NOT learn from my mistakes, and keep on signing up for this pain. The total elevation is on par with some other hundies, but with the 101 it's the shear amount of big ass climbs that seem to come one after the other. The rule is long, everlasting climb UP and long, steep, rock filled decent. Having done Mohican, The Lumberjack, and the 101, I have to say even though the 101 has the least single track out of the three, for me it's THEE hardest, and the one that really makes me feel like I've done something in the end, and that's pretty damn cool. Not to mention I'll know about 50 of the 300+ folks there. Nice to race with friends. The key to my ride tomorrow will be getting out of the house before getting sucked into the Tour. I HAVE to remember that it WILL be on ALL day, but my time to get a big ass ride in the mountains will NOT be available all day. F*ck you Phil and Paul! I CAN resist you!! The mountain I can NOT resist and will have some pics n'at tomorrow.
Time for bed.
Later.
