One Week In
One week since The Clots came back. Damn them anyway! They can suck it. Not gonna stop me from doing what I love (unless they kill me, then I guess that would stop me). Anyway, I followed up with the Clot Doc today. Looks like blood thinners for life (given I'm almost 40, I guess that's like a max of another 40 years, but that is being VERRRRYgenerous).
Seriously though, just like the first time, as long as I take my medicine and don't do anything too stupid, I can't. and they can't see much cause to do anything different. It looks like I just have me some thick ass blood that is prone to clotting. I was more alarmed by the scale at the Doc's office than I was anything she had to say about me croaking. The great thing about that is I KNOW that riding more will help with all that. Nothing like doing something you love to help keep the poundage off.
On top of all that medical crap, I am FINALLY starting to come to grips with leaving Western PA for Michigan in October. The more I read the more miles I see that I might be able to ride there. Plus it will be nice to ride some of that sweet, buff, Michigan single track like at the Lumberjack. Then again, we could be back in PA by spring, so I don't want to get too into it.
I do feel bad, because between the medical shit I've been dealing with and the anxiety of moving, I have not given Wifey her due props. I am very, VERY proud of her. She will be slinging law in "judgie" sort of way come October and I could not be more proud of her. God knows XXC is hanging on by a thread, and maybe has one more issue in it, before the 22 people that actually buy it tell me to f*ck off . I hope I'm wrong and that the mag is around for years to come, but some things need to change, or it will just be a very time consuming expensive hobby. Then again, there are some big name mags out there with some big ass ad budgets thinking that will happen. So f*ck them, I'll pump this cool ass endurance stuff out just to spite their 90 pages of fluff and ads. LOL. That will make working at Taco Bell all the more rewarding knowing that I am STILL spreading the word about the greatest sport in the world.
Gotta split. Miles to ride tomorrow and boxes to pack.
Later.
p.s. I don't mean to sound so bitter. Just am. Sorry.

Keep up the great job with the mag. In my opinion the best out there that deals with the real stuff going down in the woods.
Cheers
Markley
Sorry to hear about the clot. Hopefully everything will work out. Keep riding!
I hope XXC isn't going anywhere too soon. Maybe you can find investors or some large publisher with deep pockets will see the value of XXC. There's always Mr. Magazine too. http://www.mrmagazine.com/ I took his Magazine class years ago. He knows his business.
Good luck!
shit, haven't been around for a week or so and now your clots are back and your moving? I guess I've got some catching up to do.
good luck with both endeavors.
Michi a what!? I thought everyone was leaving that state. We'll be sorry to see you go. Your a huge asset to the local scene here.
Thanks Markley. Gonna keep on keepin' on!
Rick, yep last Monday I was able to welcome a new DVT in to the world. I call him Lefty. Then Wednesday Wifey dropped the I got a great new job, but we're moving to Michigan bomb. Who am I to argue. She's got the bosoms and now a swank job. I have a DVT, and a job that makes about as much as 10 year old's paper route. LOL! Just kidding, it's a great opportunity for her and us, but we hope to be back here soon. Unless of course we love it, then eph it. Ha!
Shred, Yep. Thanks for the kind words. I hope I've left a mark on the scene here beyond "that Mahokey is a douche." But I doubt.
We'll be back. I have to much unfinished business here.
Baby aspirin every day. So far it has kept me off of the thinners. I still bruise every time anything hits me.
Blackdog, that was the plan (sort of) but then I got this one. Now it's for life.
Michigan ain't so bad. First off, you're lungs will at least be happy to finally breathe in some non-western-PA air. WI & MI have a pretty good MTB/cross scene and despite having no mountains, there is plenty of flowy rolling single track and plenty of racing. You're arriving just in time to check out the Iceman.
Jason, yeah, I'm actually looking forward to maybe using my big ring on occasion! I did the Lumberjack last year, and I have to say, that had some SERIOUSLY fun trails. I thought on flowing piece of single track through some super tall trees may have been heaven. Looking forward to new adventures. Might keep this blog on life support a bit longer! ;)
