Still
Why are so few Pro riders on 29ers? I'm not saying one way or another good/bad. I'm as slow on a 29er as I am on 26er, but I am still sort of shocked looking at the pics (during my day job) from TransAlps, TransRockies, etc., how many (fast Pro types) are still riding 26ers. Personally I sometimes forget that bike mfgs make them. Again, not saying I HAVE to roll a 29er, but at 6'1" *** pounds of race suck I feel more comfortable on one.
This is all I have. It ain't much, but then again, nor am I. Listening to a LOT of Modest Mouse, pissed scared at the near future, and dealing with a black and blue needle holed belly. Scheduled some mountain in the A.M. with D-POW to soothe the soul, and pizza and good times with Y-Nizzle & Fam to ease de-stress and giggle.
Fired Up beckons.
Later.

I think most of the pros ride what the factory tells them to ride. However, I know Willow is tearing it up at Worlds on a 29er and Georgia Gould recently switched from 26 to 29. Also, the new Trek/Subaru team is all 29er now.
26" is so flip phone. So Y bike. So bar ends straight up...weak.
Nowadays it seems to be the platform for weekend warriors who missed the memo and are still riding heavy FS bikes on buff trails in the burbs and women whose husbands realize that buying wifey another bike they won't ride is sillyfactor 10.
I refuse to ride with 26ers now unless its my wife and then I just drop her so I am not associated with her bike.
Sometimes they try it and come back to 26 wheels too
