A Long Trip Just To Fail
After yesterday's time in the gym I was anxious to get outside today. I decided to head up to the MMCC trail and do some snow riding. That was a mistake! I based the ride on how much snow we have here in MP, and thought that even if a few people have rode there in the past week or so I would be able to plow through. No one rode the trails and there was 6 to 7 inches of snow on the ground. Within 2 feet I was at a stand still... at 5 feet I was walking, at 25 feet there were numerous trees down on across the trail, and at 75 feet I was turned around and headed for the car. Maybe a Pugsley or a Mukluk could have handled the job, but 29x2.1 tires were not going to do anything. It was just too deep.
Had I worn my hikers for the drive I would have just went for a hike, but all I had were sneakers and bike shoes. Snowshoes would have been perfect of the woods up there, AND would have helped back the snow down to ride. Might have to look into them. Plus if I pull a lawn roller behind me I can double the workout and REALLY pack the trails!A quick drive home, out of the winter riding clothes and into the summer gear down in the basement for an hour on the trainer. I was less than enthused to ride after all that pointless driving and time wasting, but got some calories burned anyway.
I know a lot of folks are riding Midland City Park. I should have driven there instead, but nooooo, I thought I knew better. I didn't. But there is always tomorrow. Or the next day. Unless of course I giant 16 ton weight falls on my head before then, then I suppose it would be pointless.
Later.
