Couple O'Studs

Having had my fill of feeling trapped by the snowy/icy pavement (and the cars waiting to run my ass over after I slide out on the ice) that I need to take to get to any snow packed gravel, I have finally broke down and got some studs. I went with the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 240s based on the fact they were in stock at the shop I had some credit at, and I had read that the fit the Jake The Snake just fine. If they don't I can always put them on one of my 29ers.
Even though I am a chubby chaser, I didn't go fatter, because I would like to use the Jake for the snow packed dirt roads, and the BIG ass Nokians wouldn't have fit. These I can swap, the fatter ones- noooo. Plus like I said, they weren't in stock. I will probably be wanting a fatter tire once I hit the snow/ice packed/rutted roads and am being tossed around like a rag doll and eating snow for lunch. We shall see. Not asking for spikes in the ice, just something to help the confidence.
In the meantime, I headed to the gym today to sweat like a fool for an hour. It was worth 1000+ calories, and the puddle of sweat on the floor that embarrassingly received a comment to me by this dude I know there. As I neared the last half hour of the workout he walks by laughing "Man, you're making a puddle! STOP! STOP!" What else could I do, but crank it up a few notches to the end. As I've mentioned before, not sure any of this is helping me with my cycling, but it is burning some calories, and that combined with my strict calorie watching should have me down 20 pounds in about a week or so. I WISH! This is gonna take time, and real results might not start happening until I can get back out for some multi hour rides. GRRRR!!
Time to catch up on Behind The Barriers (AKA the best reality show that's not on TV).
Later.

I hear you on the cars waiting to run you over. Got buzzed by a car today, hope to hear how you like these tires.
Will do. Buzzed by cars is bad enough, buzzed in the winter snow and ice is worse! Dig your blog Dan. Some good stuff there.
let the winter ride loving jason commence!
