Out of Control

Lots of work done on XXC today + I squeezed in a trainer ride, and did my dad/husband/house duties. The day flew by.

The things got out of control as I started looking at some races that I want to do this year. I was going to put the list on the side bar, but it looked so freaking ridiculous. I swear there was like 20 endurance and XC races on it. Chances are I will do about 5 to 6 if I'm lucky. I do this every year. I get cabin fever and start thinking that I'm so racer boy. We all know that is not the case.

My goals is to do The Barry Roubaix (32 miles course), The Yankee Springs TT and Rust Shaker XC races, then move on to a couple of the local endurance races. And I of course want to do the Lumberjack 100 this year. Then there are a few races later in the year.

My race goals this year is just to race more! 2009 was OK doing the NUE races, but there was too much travel and money involved to do that many again. Last year was a bust. Weight gain, family stress, and worry. I totally convinced myself that I didn't enjoy racing. And once I was that out of shape I didn't! So this year I just want to first lose some weight (in progress!) and then do some races with the goal of lining up and experiencing some new trails.

But the racing won't be the main goal this season. There is lots I want to see here. I want to do long gravel grinders, I want to see some trails up north, and do some longer epic rides solo and/or with some friends. In between all that I will of course be traveling back to PA to try to do some riding in the mountain, and maybe take a trip to the U.P. with the family as well as to lake a few times.

Oh cabin fever. Your warmth sure can stoke a fire. I guess that is a good thing.

This pic is not from today. It's from a while ago. Just liked it, and don't like posts without any photos. So I'm using this one. I had to sit the E.M. down so I could move a branch across the trail.

After last weeks freeze-yer-ballz off ride, I think I will just try skiing this weekend. Lots to do.

Later.

With that impressive list of races on the XXC mag site it's hard not to grab 2 or 3 a month and go ape!

That's exactly what I was doing last night. The real trick is figuring out just how much blood banks (or Roadies) will pay for a pint of blood and how many pints I officially need in me to function so that I can afford the travel & entry fees for all of those.

Thanks for doing your thing with the XXC mag and the race list. It's great and there is definitely more than a handful of us that feel that way.

Peace,
Metro

Metro,

Thanks for the support and the kind words. No problem on the list. It's a tad self serving, as I can consult it as well. There way more races than I have the fitness to do.

If I can do 5 endurance races this year + a couple XC time trial races, + do some long ride exploring on my own, I will be very happy. I'm pretty stoked that looking at my schedule I shouldn't have to drive more than 2.5 hours to a race or break the bank (credit card) too much for one. But that could change 3 minutes from now.
