Wide Eyed. Legless.
I read a piece in Rouler #25 about the book 'Wide Eyed and Legless'. I got pretty sucked into the article and found myself utilizing the remainder of an Amazon gift card to pick it up.
I'm not one to read TOO much about road racing and have very little interest in modern day road racing (other than some of the Spring Classics), but I figure 1987 is long ago enough that I could enjoy this firsthand look at the Tour de France. Jeff Connor joins the British team ANC Halfords as not just a reporter, but pretty much part of the team doing a variety of duties over the span of the Tour. EPO was just coming into vogue at the time, and the team was pretty new, so I am lead to believe there was no stashing of blood in any coolers or other such bullshit, but surely the drug topic will be brought up. Looking forward to delving into this one this holiday week. Nothing can calm holiday melodrama like some skinny ass Pro Tour roadie melodrama.
Later.
