Yeah I&amp;#39;m pretty much clueless when it comes to road components. I had been thinking about ripping off a pair of v-brakes from a junk mountain bike but I&amp;#39;ll buck up for CX specific brakes if it will keep me from stabbing myself it the eye. What year is your Jake? I&amp;#39;m befuddled. Wh...</title><content type='html'>Cantilever brakes why?!?!?!? I&amp;#39;m befuddled. Why are cross bikes or any bikes equipped with cantilever brakes instead of side pull &amp;#39;V&amp;#39; type brakes. Is there some hidden advantage to them? I&amp;#39;d rather stab myself in the eye than adjust old school cantilever&amp;#39;s but unfortunately I would just end up with a stabbed eye and brakes that don&amp;#39;t stop me. So instead I torture myself for two hours making the brakes on my cross bike actually work.
