Economics indeed. That's always been one of the bonuses of endurance racing. Like I said if I'm gonna drive x amount of miles, I better be in the saddle for more than a couple hours! That's why I can't get into Cross. Believe, me I've done it, I loved it (even though I sucked), but I just can't justify all the expense to race for under an hour. That is NO offense to those who love it.

Ahhhh, the genesis for Team Weak and Feeble, the reality that being a "racer" is often different from being a "rider" and when your life moves away from being a racer (sometime with us kicking and screaming) it can take time to settle into and enjoy being "just" a rider.

My motto now is that if I enter a race and it costs $100 and takes me 10 hours and the winner took 5 hours, I ended up paying $10 an hour to race where he paid $20- it's all about economics!

Here's my rationalization when I get down about my lack of racing ability. The point is always to see how you do against yourself but that doesn't always work. Just remember...only about, maybe, 25% of the field has a real shot at the podium. Without the rest of us back of pack and mid pack folks I doubt the promoters make enough jack to put the races on. It's our econoic resposibility to race. This could be a bunch of crap but I use it on myself anyway.
